As part of our commitment to our vision to Embrace the mosaic of Stockton; our mission to love God, love all our neighbors, and invite everyone to the table; and our desire to live out every one of our core values well:

We, the family that is Stockton Covenant Church, humbly acknowledge that we live and meet on indigenous land, the ancestral lands of the Northern Valley Yokuts and Southern Plain Miwoks, nations which flourished here for thousands of years before first contact with European explorers, settlers and, tragically, even missionaries. We recognize the devastating impact as many of our European predecessors valued land and gold and conquest over the work of the Creator—of us all—in these nations, when there could have been partnership, respect, and even love. We understand this is not how Jesus would have us approach anyone. And we humbly repent.

We long to keep learning and to build meaningful, ongoing relationships with Stockton’s indigenous community. We will work to that end, and begin by honoring the Northern Valley Yokuts and Southern Plain Miwoks as our hosts on this land.
